BIOGRAPHY

Multi-instrumentalist Nate Deuel regularly performs across the Mountain West in solo, chamber, and large ensemble settings.  His pit orchestra work includes Bigfork Summer Playhouse, Montana TheatreWorks, and Opera Montana.  Nate is also an avid arranger and orchestrator, creating several adaptations of standard saxophone repertoire.  Recent accomplishments include winning the 2024 Northwest MTNA Competition, and being named runner-up in the 2025 MASO Young Artist Competition.  He was selected by commissioned composer, Gregory Young, to premier “Montana Vignettes” at 2025 MSMTA Conference.

Nate is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Music at Montana State University, where he studies saxophone with Dr. Wonki Lee.  He performs alto saxophone in the MSU Wind Symphony and the MSU Saxophone Quartet and has experience playing lead tenor saxophone and clarinet with the MSU One O’Clock Jazz Band, and clarinet in the Palisade Wind Quintet.
